Fulham Broadway BID Survey Results
Earlier this year Fulham Broadway BID carried out a survey to find out more about our BID members, the local business climate and what local businesses wanted from their business improvement district to help prioritise the things that matter. What did we learn?

In general business in the area is healthy, with turnover increasing for businesses in the last 12 months. However, uncertainty has increased, which may not be surprising with the recent political climate.

Currently, the things attracting businesses to the area are rent prices, proximity to other relevant businesses, Fulham's reputation & good transport links. Least influential were social and cultural offering, amenities and talent supply. This highlighted to us that there is a potential opportunity for improvement in terms of organising events to improve the sense of community and culture, supporting the development of local services and making Fulham a desirable place to work.
So what do businesses want the BID to prioritise?

The survey highlighted these 5 areas as the top priorities.

  • 1 Delivering services for Fulham employees
  • 2 Events & Publicity for the area
  • 3 Advocating on behalf of businesses
  • 4 Improving air quality
  • 5 Addressing issues related to crime and antisocial behaviour.

Notably shared purchasing schemes and business networking opportunities were two of the lowest priorities.

However, people were not averse to taking part in these initiatives if they were set up, with 82% of people open to waste collection scheme savings and 68% interested in attending business networking events.

Similarly reducing crime and anti-social behaviour was a secondary priority for businesses, but people were open to being part of an online crime platform if one were created, with 84% of members interested in participating.

What were the key takeaways of the BID survey?
1 Business health is improving in our district but uncertainty is growing.

2 The current attraction of Fulham Broadway for businesses is rent prices, business network & transport links. Areas for improvement are amenities, culture & local talent.

3 The priorities for the BID for businesses are improving employee services in the area, events & publicity and business advocacy for local issues.
